The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas will host a two-day centennial celebration this September. The event is to honor Memorial Hall, the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building in downtown Kansas City, Kansas.
Friday, May 30, 2025, marked the 100th anniversary of the building’s dedication. Memorial Hall opened in 1925 as a civic auditorium and World War I memorial. It has hosted concerts, graduations, weddings, competitions, wrestling matches, roller derby, and countless community events. Designed by Rose & Peterson, the venue is considered one of Wyandotte County’s most iconic landmarks.

Organizers say additional details and a full schedule of activities will be released in the coming months.
Community Involvement
The Unified Government is collecting stories, photographs, and artifacts to showcase Memorial Hall’s history during the celebration. Residents can submit items online through the UG’s website. Museum staff will help scan photos and record stories to be preserved and displayed at the centennial event.
