Short-Term Closure Begins Monday For Water Infrastructure Work.
County Line Road, also known as West 47th Street, will close between Melrose Lane and Goddard Street beginning Monday, Feb. 16.
According to Public Works, the temporary closure supports a WaterOne infrastructure project that requires coordination between local jurisdictions. The work is expected to last at least three days. Conditions will be reevaluated Feb. 17, and additional updates will be shared if the schedule changes.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured using West 49th Street in Shawnee, Kansas. Drivers are encouraged to follow posted detour signs, allow extra travel time and use caution near the work area.
Residents who want to better understand infrastructure activity beyond this closure can explore two interactive tools provided by Public Works.
The In the Works map highlights public improvements in design, construction, pavement preservation, water and sewer work and other planned investments. Users can zoom to their neighborhood, click on individual projects and see what type of work is underway or planned nearby.
The Permitting Map shows where permits have been issued for both public and private work. Residents can view the location, purpose and status of permitted activity. This can help explain why work may be happening in a specific area, even if construction is not yet visible.
Together, these tools allow residents to track ongoing and upcoming activity, understand how projects move from planning to construction and stay informed about work that may affect travel, access or services.
