Weekend work will help reduce weekday impacts near several public buildings.
Street resurfacing work is planned near City Hall and Memorial Hall over two weekends as part of the Unified Government’s (UG) 2025/2026 Street Resurfacing projects.
The work is part of the UG’s regular street preservation program, which helps maintain road conditions and extend the life of existing streets. The work area includes parts of Tauromee Avenue and Barnett Avenue, with connected street segments near South 7th Street Trafficway, South 8th Street, and Allis Court.
Crews are expected to begin mobilizing Friday, April 24, with milling work beginning Saturday, April 25. Work is planned over the weekend to reduce impacts to residents, visitors, and employees traveling near City Hall, the Courthouse, and Memorial Hall during regular weekday hours.
Work on Tauromee Avenue may continue into Monday, April 27, if crews are unable to complete the area over the weekend.
No parking signs were placed Thursday, April 23, ahead of the work. Drivers should watch for posted signs, construction activity, temporary parking restrictions, and possible delays near the work area.
Paving crews are expected to return Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2, to complete resurfacing work. The schedule may change if weather or field conditions affect the contractor’s ability to complete the work as planned.
