The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas (UG) has introduced OpenBook. It is a new online resource. This tool is designed to make city and county budget information easier for residents to access and understand.
The Unified Government states that OpenBook offers interactive charts, graphs, and articles. These resources explain how local funds are collected and spent. The platform was launched with the first 2026 budget workshop. This event was held on March 13. It is part of the UG’s commitment to financial transparency.
“This one-stop shop for budget data is designed to help residents see how their government operates financially,” UG officials said in a statement. “By providing clear visualizations, we want to give the community a better understanding of spending, revenues, and department priorities.”
New budget data will be uploaded each year after adoption. This ensures residents have access to the most current information. This includes department budgets and revenue and expenditure trends.
The UG noted that OpenBook builds on ongoing efforts. It aims to share information with the public. It also strives to strengthen engagement in the local budget process.
