The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas has announced the start of its 2025 Community Survey. The survey will begin arriving in select mailboxes this week.
According to the Unified Government, the survey is administered by Olathe-based ETC Institute. It is sent to a random sample of residents. Responses will provide feedback on quality of life, city and county services, programs, and neighborhood priorities. The data collected will help guide the 2026 budget process, which launched last week.
“We have revamped our community survey to improve its overall usefulness to the organization as a source of feedback from residents,” said Mike Grimm, UG Research Manager. “We have also increased the frequency of data collection to ensure we have a strong handle on community priorities prior to the annual budget cycle.”
Two survey versions are being mailed. One is focused on Kansas City, Kansas city services. The other is focused on Wyandotte County services for residents of Bonner Springs, Edwardsville, and Lake Quivira. ETC Institute uses U.S. Census data to ensure the sample reflects the county’s population and each commission district.
Residents are asked to return surveys as soon as possible. All responses are anonymous, and participants may enter to win a gift card for completing the survey.
“With many different needs across the county, it is important for us to be able to share an accurate picture of our community priorities,” said County Administrator David W. Johnston, ICMA-CM. “The data collected from this survey will be shared with your elected Commissioners and the public throughout the budget process.”
The survey will remain open for several weeks, with results to be presented at an upcoming 2026 budget workshop.
