The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is asking Kansans to share their thoughts on the state’s transportation system by completing a short online survey before Sept. 30.
According to KDOT, the survey is the first step in the 2025 Local Consult process, which is held every two years to gather public input on regional and statewide transportation priorities. Feedback collected through the survey will help KDOT understand how residents feel about current transportation needs and guide future investments.
“Your feedback is crucial,” KDOT officials said in a statement. “The results of this survey will help us understand how you feel about the transportation system in Kansas.”
The survey is designed to be quick and easy. Questions ask residents to identify their top priorities and rate the current system. For example:
- Please select up to five items from the list below that are most important to you regarding the transportation system in Kansas.
- On a scale of 1 to 4, with 1 being Very Poor and 4 being Very Good, please rate the condition of state highways and bridges in your area today.
Local Consult gives residents an opportunity to share their priorities for highways, bridges, public transit, pedestrian and bicycle access, and other infrastructure needs. The process also provides updates on transportation investments in each region and information about available grant programs.
This year’s Local Consult meetings will take place in October at locations across the state, as well as through a virtual statewide session. Dates, times, and locations for the meetings are available on KDOT’s website.
KDOT is encouraging residents to complete the survey before it closes on September 30 and to share the link with friends, neighbors, and colleagues.
