Wyandotte County Opens New Vehicle Tag Renewal Location

Starting Thursday, October 16, 2025, Wyandotte County residents will have another option to renew their vehicle tags. According to the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas (UG), a new Motor Vehicle Renewal Only location will open inside Bonner Springs City Hall at 200 E. 3rd Street.

The new site, operated in partnership with the City of Bonner Springs, will be open Mondays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will serve walk-in customers only, and services will be limited to vehicle renewals. Other transactions, such as title transfers or new vehicle registrations, will still need to be completed at the UG’s full-service offices at the Courthouse or Annex.

“This project represents a strong partnership between the Unified Government and the City of Bonner Springs,” said UG Treasurer Andrea Vinyard. “Our goal with this pilot is to reduce the crowds at our two main Motor Vehicle offices, which will allow us to improve efficiencies and better serve residents across the county. We’re hopeful this step forward will make the renewal process more convenient while strengthening the overall customer experience.”

Bonner Springs Mayor Tom Stephens said he was glad to see the county expanding services in the western part of Wyandotte County. “We are excited to host another County service that brings convenience to the western section of the county,” Stephens said. “I appreciate all of the efforts of staff and elected officials to ensure Western Wyandotte County has equal access to county services.”

Residents planning to renew in person are encouraged to visit the UG’s Motor Vehicle webpage to review the required documents before arriving.
