Seventy-one organizations in Wyandotte County will get funding this year through the Hollywood Casino Grant Program. The Unified Government’s Board of Commissioners approved the awards during its June 26 meeting.
The annual program is funded through contributions from Hollywood Casino. It supports nonprofits that promote healthy lifestyles, fresh food access, and opportunities for physical activity. Each commission district receives a comparable amount during the grant cycle. Applications for the 2025 program were accepted between March 1 and April 21.
The Unified Government reported on this year’s review process. It was carried out in partnership with the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. Ninety-seven applications were submitted, with 71 ultimately selected to share a combined $474,278.18 in funding. Individual awards ranged from $500 to $28,000.
“The Hollywood Casino Grant program supports important community initiatives, helping local organizations improve quality of life and foster a stronger, healthier community,” said Mayor/CEO Tyrone A. Garner.
All recipient organizations are required to hold current 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. Visit the Unified Government’s website to see how the money was distributed.
