A Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) pavement improvement project is scheduled. It will bring overnight lane closures to I-70 between I-435 and 78th Street in Kansas City, Kansas. These closures will begin on Sunday, May 18, weather permitting.
The $6.8 million project includes concrete pavement patching on both eastbound and westbound lanes. Work is scheduled Sunday through Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., with additional Friday night work as needed.
During construction hours, traffic will be reduced to a single lane. To allow concrete patches to cure, a lane may remain closed the following morning. Traffic will be directed using channelizers, signs, and changeable message boards.
Iowa Civil Contracting of Victor, Iowa is the contractor, and the project is expected to be completed in late November.
KDOT advises motorists to stay alert in work zones and follow posted signage. Drivers can check KanDrive.gov or call 5-1-1 for current road conditions and project updates.
