The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has lifted the Boil Water Advisory for a localized area of Kansas City, Kansas served by the Board of Public Utilities (BPU). According to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), the advisory had been issued as a precaution after a waterline break caused pressure loss in the system.
The advisory only affected customers from Freeman Avenue south to Riverview, and 9th Street west to 18th Street.
State officials said testing confirmed there is no bacterial contamination in the water supply and all conditions that could have posed a risk have been resolved.
BPU is advising customers to take a few steps now that the advisory has ended:
- Run cold water from all faucets for at least five minutes.
- Discard the first batch of ice and clean your ice bin if you have an automatic ice maker.
- Replace or clean any water filters in faucets, refrigerators, or appliances according to manufacturer instructions.
