The Unified Government has announced temporary closures to complete upgrades to the Accela permitting platform.
According to the Unified Government, the Accela system will be unavailable beginning Thursday, April 17, at 12 p.m. It is used for building permits, development review, business licensing, occupational tax, property maintenance case management, and planning permits.
In preparation, the Neighborhood Resource Center (NRC) customer lobby at 4953 State Avenue will close early at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 17.
The NRC offices will also be closed Friday, April 18, in observance of the Spring Holiday. The upgraded Accela system will reopen to the public on Monday, April 21, at 8 a.m. The NRC lobby will also reopen then.
This upgrade shifts Accela from an on-premise system to a cloud-based platform. At this stage, users may only notice minor changes. However, officials said the move sets the stage for future improvements. These improvements include how applications are submitted, projects are tracked, inspections are scheduled, and permits are issued.
The Unified Government thanked residents and businesses for their patience. Staff are completing this transition. They called it “an important first step toward improving service delivery.”
