KCK Crews Pre-Treat Roads Ahead of Winter Weather

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas (UG) reports important updates. Its Street Maintenance Division has started preparing for the upcoming winter storm. They are also getting ready for extreme cold temperatures.

According to the UG, crews started pre-treating bridges, hills, hot routes, and secondary routes on Friday, Feb. 14, before moving into neighborhoods across Kansas City, Kansas. Street conditions will continue to be monitored day and night as the system moves in.

Motorists are advised to expect slick conditions as temperatures drop.

How Residents Can Help

  • Avoid parking on the street when possible to allow plows to pass.
  • If street parking is necessary, park close to the curb.
  • Drive cautiously and allow extra travel time.
  • When shoveling, place snow to the right side of your driveway (when facing the street) to prevent plows from pushing it back in.
  • Keep children away from snow drifts near the roadway.

Residents can report service issues by dialing 3-1-1. For more details, visit wycokck.org/Snow to view the Public Works Snow & Ice Control Policy.
