Report Highlights Expanded Services, New Technology, and Community Partnerships.
The Wyandotte County Public Health Department has released its 2025 Annual Report, outlining major accomplishments, expanded services, and ongoing public health efforts across the county.
The report highlights progress made throughout the year and explains how each division’s work aligns with national standards set by the Public Health Accreditation Board and the department’s Strategic Plan.
Expanded Programs & Services
In 2025, the Healthy Families Wyandotte program expanded to serve more families. According to the Health Department, funding from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment helped grow the program, which supports healthy birth outcomes and child development.
The Clinical Services Division expanded its walk-in clinic hours to five days a week in June, improving access to care for residents. In August, the Women, Infants, and Children program launched an online application, making it easier for families to apply for benefits.
Technology and Efficiency Improvements
During the spring, the department launched new payment systems through the PayIt platform. The system now supports payments for Clinical Services and for Environmental Inspections licenses and permits, including pool and septic permits. According to the department, the change made payments more efficient and allowed the clinic to accept HSA and FSA payments.
Public Health & Safety Efforts
Throughout the year, staff investigated communicable diseases in the county, including chronic hepatitis C, campylobacteriosis, pertussis, and invasive pneumococcal disease.
Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response staff also updated the department’s Public Health Emergency Response Plan and completed multiple emergency preparedness trainings.
On Oct. 13, Grandparents for Gun Safety named the Wyandotte County Public Health Department the 2025 Organization Advocate of the Year in recognition of its violence prevention work and support of the Community Health Improvement Plan.
Community Partnerships
The department hosted the “Healthy Choices, Healthy Communities” Art Contest in partnership with the Kansas City, Kansas Public Library and Bonner Springs City Library. The project was supported in part by a grant from the Network of the National Library of Medicine.
