Drivers in Kansas City, Kansas should prepare for an upcoming closure on K-32. Bridge reconstruction is continuing at the Turner Diagonal interchange.
Eastbound K-32 will close just east of South 65th Street. This will begin on Monday, April 7, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT). The closure will allow crews to perform overhead bridge work and is expected to last through April 20, weather permitting.
A signed detour will be posted, and motorists are advised to slow down, follow signage, and allow extra travel time.
This work is part of Phase 3 of the K-32/Turner Diagonal Freeway/Kaw Drive Bridge Replacement Project. This project began in October 2022. The $22.7 million project includes replacing the eastbound and westbound K-32/Turner Diagonal bridges over Kaw Drive and the Union Pacific Railroad. Construction is scheduled to conclude by May 31, 2026.
The project is being completed by Miles Excavating of Basehor, Kansas.
